The spline adapter is a press–fit and is
difficult to remove and replace. Do not
apply excessive force when attempting to
remove or replace spline adapter, or ring
gear separation may occur.
Install adapter assembly (1), portion of adapter kit
(T6) into spline adapter of starter gearshaft as-
sembly to stop rotation of gearbox gears while
generator spline adapter is being removed and
installed. Secure adapter assembly (1) to studs
using MS21043–3 or equivalent nuts.
Assemble threaded adapter (2), jack screw (3),
jack nut (4) and support bridge (5), then install
onto studs of generator mounting pad securing
with MS21044N6 or equivalent nuts.
Screw threaded adapter (2) into spline adapter
(6).
Turn jack nut (4) to remove spline adapter (6) from
splines of generator gearshaft.
Remove nuts securing support bridge (5) to gear-
box mounting pad. Remove jack screw (3), jack
nut (4), support bridge (5) and threaded adapter
(2) from gearbox assembly.
Remove nuts securing adapter assembly (1) to
starter mounting pad. Remove adapter assembly
(1) from gearbox assembly.
Inspect splines of generator output shaft for dam-
age. No damage allowed.
