This    Maintenance    Allocation INTRODUCTION Chart   (MAC)   assigns   maintenance   functions in   accordance   with   the   Three   Levels   of   Maintenance   concept   for   Army   aviation. T h e s e    m a i n t e n a n c e    l e v e ls ( c a t e g o r i e s) -    A v i a t i o n    U n i t    M a i n t e n a n c e (AVUM), Aviation   Intermediate   Maintenance   (AVIM)   and   Depot   Maintenance   -   are   depicted   on the   MAC   as: AVUM,   which   corresponds   to   an   O   Code   in   the   Repair   Parts   and   Special Tools   List   (RPSTL) AVIM,   which   corresponds   to   an   F   Code   in   the   Repair   Parts   and   Special Tools   List   (RPSTL) DEPOT,   which   corresponds   to   an   D   Code   in   the   Repair   Parts   and   Special Tools   List   (RPSTL) b. T h e    m a i n t e n a n c e    t o    b e    p e r f o r m e d    b e l o w    d e p o t    a n d    i n    t h e    f i e l d    i s described   as   follows: (1)   Aviation   Unit   Maintenance   (AVUM)   activities   will   be   staffed   and equipped   to   perform   high   frequency   “On-Aircraft” m a i n t e n a n c e    t a s k s    r e q u i r e d    t o r e t a i n    o r    r e t u r n    a i r c r a f t    s y s t e m s    t o    a    s e r v i c e a b l e    c o n d i t i o n . The    maintenance capability   of   the   AVUM   W ill   be   governed   by   the   Maintenance   Allocation   Chart (MAC)   and   limited   by   the   amount   and   complexity   of   ground   support   equipment (GSE), f a c i l i t i e s     r e q u i r e d , a u t h o r i z e d     m a n n i n g     s t r e n g t h     a n d     c r i t i c a l     s k i l ls a v a i l a b l e. Perform   maintenance   inspections   and   servicing   to   include p r e f l i g h t ,    d a i l y ,    i n t e r m e d i a t e ,    p e r i o d i c    ( o r    p h a s e d )    a n d    s p e c i a l    i n s p e c t i o n s    as authorized by the MAC or higher headquarters. I d e n t i fy t he case o f equipment/system   malfunctions   using   applicable   technical   manual   troubleshooting i n s t r u c t i o n s ,    b u i l t - i n    t e s t    e q u i p m e n t    ( B I T E ), i n s t a l l e d    a i r c r a f t    i n s t r u m e n t s ,    o r t e s t , measurement modules/components a n d    w h i c h    c a n    be support   equipment. a n d    d i a g n o s t i c equipment    (TMDE).
