Acceleration Control Thermostat and Plenum Drain Value (TS 6115-590-12/4-49)4-90.Fuel Combustion Chambera.Removal.(1) Remove tube assembly (fig. 4-50) from fuelatomizer and electrical lead from igniter plug.WARNINGDo not remove igniter plug until it hasbeen grounded. The high tension leadmust be grounded as soon as it isremoved from the igniter plug. Groundby touching the contact spring in the leadto the igniter.(2) Loosen screw in coupling and removecombustion chamber liner, coupling, combustor capassembly and fuel atomizer assembly from turbineplenum.(3) Slide coupling over end of combustion linerand remove from engine.(4) Remove igniter plug by removing attachingbolts and washers.(5) Remove three attaching bolts and washersfrom fuel atomizer. Remove fuel atomizer and packingfrom combustor cap.(6) Remove liner and packing from combustorcap.b.Cleaning and Inspection.(1) Wash all parts except igniter plug inapproved cleaning solvent and dry thoroughly withfiltered compressed air. If necessary, remove carbondeposits from atomizer nozzle using a soft bristled fiberbrush while directing filtered compressed air atapproximately 20 psig pressure into atomizer fuel inletport. Do not use a wire brush. Clean excessive carbondeposits from liner with a wooden scraper or equivalent.(2) Inspect all metallic parts for cracks,corrosion, damaged threads or other obvious damage.Inspect fuel atomizer screen for clogging and breaks.Inspect liner assembly for cracks and deformation inaccordance with figure 4-51.c.Installation.(1) Install satisfactory or replacement linerassembly into combustor cap being careful that theigniter plug hole in the liner matches up with hole in thecombustor cap.(2) Install satisfactory or replacement fuelatomizer assembly with new packing on combustor capand secure with three attaching washers and bolts.Tighten bolts to 20 to 25 inch-pound torque.(3) Install igniter plug and secure with attachingwashers and bolts.(4) Slide coupling over end of liner and on tocombustor cap. Install cap with liner turbine plenumusing new packing. Tighten clamp securely.(5) Reconnect tube assembly to fuel atomizerusing new packing and connect electrical lead to igniterplug.4-91.Upper and Lower Plenums and Heat ShieldsInspect upper and lower plenums and heat shieldsfor dents, cracks, corrosion, loose or missing mount- inghardware or other obvious damage.4-106
