cal characteristics that if not conforming to the design data or quality requirements, could re-
sult in serious injury or death to the crew members and/or serious damage to the helicopter.

A critical characteristic is any dimension, tolerance, finish, material, manufacturing, as-
sembly, or inspection process, or other feature which, if not conforming or missing, could cause
failure or malfunction of the FSCAP.
Critical characteristics produced during the manufacturing process are termed manufac-

turing critical characteristics. Critical characteristics not introduced during manufacturing but
critical in terms of assembly/installation (e.g. proper torque) are termed installation critical char-
acteristics.
