7-5.1 REPLACE INSERT (AVIM) (CONT)
REMOVAL

Position gearbox housing on work
surface.

Drill insert (1) to allow ex-
traction.
Punch the lock keys inward and break

off.

Remove threaded portion of insert
(1).
INSTALLATION

NOTE
Prior to assembly, all compo-
nents will be visually in-
spected for damage.
Clean insert (1) and area with
1,1,1-trichloroethane (D41) and ma-
chinery towel (D20).
Apply epoxy primer (D30) with cotton
applicator (D10) to insert (1)
threads.
Allow to cure 1 to 5 min-
utes.
Screw in insert until lock keys con-
tact the countersink.
Drive the keys to lock insert.
Remove excess epoxy primer (D30)
with machinery towel (D20) and dry
cleaning solvent (D35).
Air dry for 72 hours at 62 to 92°F
(17 to 33°C).
FOLLOW-ON MAINTENANCE: None.
