Install backlash gage (T6) (24) on threaded

WARNING
Lubricating oils cause paralysis if swal-
lowed. Prolonged contact with them
may irritate the skin. Handle only in
well-ventilated areas away from heat
and flame. Drain and store in approved
metal safety containers. Avoid pro-
longed or repeated contact with skin
and do not take internally. Wash con-
tacted area of skin thoroughly after han-
dling. If irritation of skin results, get
medical attention Get medical attention
for eyes.
It may be necessary to remove inlet
to allow visual inspection of garter seal
while installing overspeed drive gear-
shaft. Failure to properly install gear-
shaft could result in damage to garter
seal.
NOTE
Use care in guiding gearshaft through out-
put shaft support housing garter seal

Coat end of gearshaft with shortening compound
(E51 ) or lubricating oil (E36) or (E37)

Install bevel gear assembly and backlash gage
(26) through overspeed drive cover assembly
(15)
12.
Insert gear holding fixture (T3) (27) into gearbox
and lock bevel gear
13.
Using backlash gage dial indicator (28) with indi-
cator tip on scribed line on backlash gage, check
backlash of bevel gear Backlash shall be 0.007
inch to 0.013 inch
