Apply a light coat of screw
lock (E22) to mounting threads
(4) of magnetic pickup (1).
Screw in magnetic
pickup (1)
until pickup pole (3) lightly
bottoms on starter gear tooth
crest.
Note
One quarter turn of
magnetic pickup (1)
is equal to a clearance
of 0.014 inch between
magnetic pickup and
starter gear.
Using
key
(as a
position
reference) in electrical con-
nector portion (5) of magnetic
pickup (1), back off magnetic
pickup one-quarter turn.
Lock magnetic pickup
(1) in
position
with
locknut
(8).
Torque to 90
inch-pounds.
Rotate allen wrench to ensure
gear and pickup do not rub.
Connect
connector
P302 (2).
Safety
wire
using
lockwire
(E32).
